The wines of this appellation

their deep hue covers a broad spectrum ranging from cherry-red to garnet. They display distinctive fragrances of red or black fruit (blackcurrant), animal notes, musk, fur, liquorice, bilberry, prune, nutmeg, pepper, leather. Wines from the steeper slopes are solid, powerful and generous, whilst those from the flatter soils tend to be more elegant. In the early years, they are often tannic, and the first growths remain firm throughout. Try with poultry, beef tenderloin, small or large game.
