a Côte de Beaune appellation where over half of the vineyards are classed as first growths. The village of Volnay sits between Meursault, in the south, and Pommard, in the north. Interestingly, 29 hectares of vines within Meursault are entitled to the Volnay first growth appellation, in which case they become Volnay-Santenots. Whites are also grown here and, depending on the specific plots, they are entitled to use the Meursault, Meursault first growth or Meursault-Santenots appellations.
Grape varieties: Vins rouges : Pinot noir
