AOC Saint-Aubin wines awarded at the Gilbert & Gaillard International Challenge

Saint-Aubin is a village appellation in Côte d’Or located between Chassagne and Puligny-Montrachet. The appellation produces red wine from Pinot noir and white from Chardonnay. Two-thirds of the vineyards boast first growth status and although the area is primarily geared to producing red wines, its reputation is based on its whites. The vines enjoy a south-west or south-south-east aspect.

The wines of this appellation

the whites display a pale golden hue and fragrances of green almonds, beeswax, hazelnut, cinnamon, amber and a touch of pepper. They are rich, harmonious, delicate and elegant wines. The reds display a deep colour with fragrances of blackcurrant, black cherry and a touch of leather. The reds pair with game patés, stuffed duck and lamb with girolle mushrooms and the whites with trout in a cream sauce or salmon with basil. Climate sites classed as first growths: Derrière la Tour, En Créot, Bas de Vermarain in the east, Les Champlots, In Gamay, La Chatenière, En Remilly, Les Murgers des Dents de Chien, Les Combes, Le Charmoix, Village, Les Castets, Derrière chez Edouard, Le Puits, Sur le Sentire du Clou, Les Frionnes.
