the village of Puligny is situated roughly a dozen kilometres from Beaune. The vines grow over the rolling, east facing hills which unfold behind the village as far as Blagny hamlet. The soil is calcareous clay, strewn with stones and is home to a predominant proportion of white wines. The red wines grown within the appellation area are also entitled to use AC Blagny. The village’s reputation centres on its four world-famous great growths (Montrachet, Bâtard-Montrachet, Chevalier-Montrachet and Bienvenues-Bâtard-Montrachet). Climate sites classed as first growths: Sous le Puits, La Garenne, Hameau de Blagny, La Truffière, Champ Gain, Les Chalumeaux, Champ Canet, Clos de la Garenne, Les Folatières, Le Cailleret, Les Demoiselles, Les Pucelles, Clavoillon, Les Perrières, Clos de la Mouchère, Les Combettes, Les Referts.
Grape varieties: Vins rouges : pinot noir. Vins blancs secs : Chardonnay

the whites are a pale yellow colour. They are rich, with great length on the palate and subtle acidity. Their texture and body are firm, with aromas of freshly-cut grass, butter, fern, hazelnut, marzipan, white flowers, acacia honey, exotic fruits and occasionally amber and quince. These sterling wines are the perfect partners for shellfish, fish served in a sauce, turbot, fatted chicken, strong-smelling cheeses. The less common reds pair with roast red meat, game birds and mild cheeses.
