Irancy display a deep hue and fragrances of cherry, blackcurrant, spices, violet and ‘terroir’. They are solid, robust, tannic wines which are lively and long-lasting on the palate. Although they can be slightly bitter in the early years, they have a prolonged cellaring capacity. The hallmark characteristics of these wines are partly derived from frequent use of the Cesar varietal, which is blended with Pinot. Try with coq au vin, kidneys in a Madeira sauce, beef bourguignon and cheeses.
