located in the far south of the Côte de Beaune, in the villages of Chassagne-Montrachet (Côte d’Or) and Remigny (Saône-et-Loire), this appellation area covers 339 hectares, half of which is divided between 19 first growths. Chardonnay grows on clayey white limestone in the north-east, Pinot noir on the limestone marl in the north-west and south-west. Climate sites classed as first growths: Clos Saint-Jean, Cailleret, Les Chaumées, Les Vergers, Les Chenevottes, Les Macherelles, En Remilly, Dent de Chien, Vide Bourse, Blanchot-Dessus, La Maltroie, Les Brussonnes, Morgeot, Abbaye de Morgeot, Bois de Chassagne, La Grande Montagne, La Boudriotte, Les Champs Gains, Tonton Marcel.

the white wines are fat, opulent, robust and golden in colour. They are dry, firm and long on the palate. Aromas reminiscent of almonds, ripe apple, white flowers, honey, fern and hawthorn are present, along with mineral notes and a hint of hazelnut, though also tropical fruit such as pineapple and grapefruit. The red wines conjure up aromas of blackcurrant, raspberry and a comprehensive range of ripe fruit, and venison. The wines are clean and round, fleshy, well-constituted, supply and velvety with delicate tannins.
