The Terres du Midi appellation covers the departments of Gard, Hérault, Aude and Pyrénées-Orientales, together with a few communes in Lozère, at the heart of the Mediterranean vineyards of Occitanie. The vineyard lies within a vast natural amphitheatre facing the sea, alternating mountains and high plateaus, foothills and intermediate plateaus, then the coastal plain. Soils are varied, and the Mediterranean climate, generous in light and warmth, favours good grape ripeness. More than 110,000 hectares of vines fall within the appellation's boundaries. A wide range of grape varieties, both traditional to the Midi and more recent, is permitted. Unlike neighbouring appellations that favour the expression of a single grape variety, Terres du Midi stands out for its art of blending, a direct legacy of the winegrowers of the Midi and their tradition of blended wines.

Terres du Midi produces still wines in all three colours. The diversity of soils and permitted grape varieties gives producers wide freedom of expression in their blends. Reds display a deep colour ranging from ruby to garnet, with aromas of red fruit and spice; blending several grape varieties gives them a fleshy, supple and harmonious structure. Whites stand out for their freshness, offering aromas of white-fleshed fruit and citrus. Rosés are balanced and delicate, revealing floral or red-fruit notes within luminous hues. Reds pair well with grilled meats and Mediterranean dishes, whites suit fish and shellfish, and rosés go well with aperitifs, salads and summer dishes.
