Saint-Julien sits within a rectangle, 5 km long by 3.5 km wide, south of Pauillac. Roughly three-quarters of Saint-Julien wines are made by its 11 classed growths. Outcrops of gravel from the Quaternary era deposited by the Garonne are home to its vineyards, as are silica-type soils to the west. The nearby ocean and the estuary provide a mild temperate climate.
Grape varieties: Vins rouges : Cabernet-sauvignon, Cabernet franc, merlot, malbec, petit verdot, carmenère

Saint-Julien wines display an intense colour. They are subtle, well-balanced, elegant and show great length on the palate with a delicate, tell-tale bouquet. With their aromas of red fruit, mild spices, leather, vanilla… they boast a considerable ability to age. Enjoy with red meat, game, duck…
