46 towns and villages set on the outskirts of Montpellier in the Hérault department qualify for this appellation. Grenache, Mourvedre and Syrah (at least 70% for all three varietals combined and at least 20% Grenache) rub shoulders with a few old Carignan vines (30% maximum).
