The Savoie vineyard stretches in an arc along the foothills of the Alps, from Thonon-les-Bains in the north to west of Albertville in the south. The production area covers 56 communes located in Savoie, Haute-Savoie, Ain and a strip of northern Isère. Shaped by intense alpine erosion, the soils vary by sector between glacial moraines, post-glacial limestone scree and calcareous clay-based molasses. The climate combines oceanic influences carried by westerly winds with continental and southern effects, bringing abundant rainfall and around 1600 hours of sunshine a year. The name Mondeuse is added to the Vin de Savoie appellation when wines are made exclusively from this red grape variety. Mondeuse, a demanding variety, thrives in particular in the Combe de Savoie, on fine limestone scree slopes where its water supply remains steady.

Vin de Savoie Mondeuse designates red wines, and occasionally rosés, made exclusively from the mondeuse grape. Their colour is a deep ruby, sometimes crimson or tinged with violet hues. The nose shows red and black fruit aromas, often lifted by spicy or peppery notes that develop further with age. On the palate, these wines stand out for their firm tannic structure and generous body, while retaining a liveliness that brings freshness. Solid and deeply coloured, they have real ageing potential and gain complexity over time. Young, they pair well with cured meats, grilled meats and mountain cheeses. As they mature, their tannins soften and they suit richer dishes such as game, meat in sauce or well-aged cheeses.
