the appellation is situated west of Lake Bourget. The name Roussette is derived from the russset shades the wine acquires as it matures. In Savoy, this grape variety is also called Altesse. Four zones are entitled to growth status: Frangy, north-west of Annecy, Marestel and Monthoux, along the left bank of the Rhone and Monterminod near Chambéry.

The wines of this appellation

these white wines are fruity, delicate, racy, full and unctuous with acidulous notes. They can be laid down for a few years. Roussette produces a range of aromas known as ‘peacock’s fan’ because they stretch across the whole palate. The wines display a golden green hue and fragrances of dried fruit, predominantly apricot, almond, honey and hazelnut, enhanced by floral notes.
