The Utiel-Requena D.O. brings together nine municipalities in the province of Valencia: Camporrobles, Caudete de las Fuentes, Fuenterrobles, Requena, Siete Aguas, Sinarcas, Utiel, Venta del Moro and Villargordo del Cabriel. The vineyards lie on an inland plateau forming a terrace sloping toward the Mediterranean, at an average altitude of 720 metres, ranging between 650 and 905 metres depending on the sector. The soils are loamy in texture, mixing stones and gravel, and are limestone-rich and low in organic matter. The climate is Mediterranean with strong continental traits accentuated by altitude, marked by wide temperature swings, scarce and irregular rainfall of around 400 millimetres a year, and roughly 2700 hours of sunshine annually. Bobal, the native red variety, covers 75% of the vineyard; it is joined by Tempranillo, Garnacha Tinta, Garnacha Tintorera, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Syrah, Pinot Noir, Petit Verdot, Cabernet Franc, Graciano and Monastrell. Tardana, the native white variety, completes the range alongside Macabeo, Merseguera and Chardonnay, among other authorised white varieties.

Utiel-Requena produces white, rosé and red wines, along with quality sparkling wines. Whites, in shades of yellow of varying intensity depending on the grape, show floral and white-fruit aromas, with freshness carried by a marked natural acidity. Rosés, ranging from violet-pink to orange-pink, express red-fruit aromas; those made from Bobal stand out for their strawberry notes and for a colour that holds over time. Reds, deep in colour with violet hues that turn toward riper tones with age, show red and black fruit aromas; they have body, good intensity and generally balanced acidity, with notable ageing potential for Bobal cuvées aged as Crianza, Reserva or Gran Reserva. Quality sparkling wines, whether white, rosé or red, combine fruity notes with yeasty touches. Reds pair with grilled or slow-cooked meats, rosés with charcuterie and rice dishes, and whites with fish and seafood.
