these wines grow either side of the Loire, upriver from Tours. The focal point of the appellation is the village of Cangey. The soils, which are stony or sandy on a limestone subsoil, are well-suited to the local grape varieties: Gamay, Cot, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon (reds) and Chenin (whites).

The wines of this appellation

the reds are supple, easy-drinking wines when made from Gamay and stronger, fuller wines when blended. They are rich, delicate and fragrant. The duration of maceration makes Touraine-Amboise early-drinking wines or wines to be kept. They display a cherry-red hue and aromas of red fruit (cherry, blackcurrant) and slightly spicy notes. The rosés are delicate, fruity, approachable wines. The whites display a hue with pale yellow tints and fragrances of gunflint, acacia, apple, peach, apricot, dried fruit, liquorice and quince. Food pairings for the reds: grilled beef, leg of venison and cheese. For the whites: fish in a sauce. For the rosés: crudités, assortment of cold cuts, smoked salmon…
