Situated 45 km south-south-east of Bordeaux, this appellation sits on the opposite bank of the Garonne to Sauternes. The soils are calcareous clay in type with fossils set on a subsoil of limestone or gravel. The vines are planted on plateaux or hillside sites. The wines are blended from Semillon, Sauvignon and Muscadelle.
Grape varieties: Vins rouges : Cabernet-sauvignon, Cabernet franc, merlot, malbec, petit verdot. Vins blancs secs et doux : sémillon, sauvignon, muscadelle
