The Thracian Valley appellation lies in southern Bulgaria, bordered by the foothills of the Balkan range to the north, the Rila-Rhodope massif and the Strandzha mountains to the south, the Struma valley to the west and the Black Sea to the east. It spans eleven administrative regions, including Plovdiv, Stara Zagora, Haskovo, Pazardzhik and Burgas. Vineyards are planted between 100 and 500 metres of altitude, over flat and gently hilly terrain. The climate is transitional continental, turning continental-Mediterranean in the Struma valley and near the Black Sea, under the influence of air currents that travel up the Maritsa, Tundzha, Struma and Arda river valleys. The dominant soils are cinnamon forest soils, alongside humus-carbonate soils, leached chernozem and alluvial plain soils. The indigenous red variety Mavrud grows alongside Pamid, Gamza and Shiroka Melnishka Loza, together with Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and white varieties such as Chardonnay, Muscat Ottonel and Dimyat.

White, rosé and red wines are produced under the Thracian Valley appellation. Whites show a bright golden colour with greenish hues; an intense, layered nose unfolds in the glass toward sweet and floral notes, leading to a full, balanced, harmonious palate with pronounced fruit character. Rosés, bright pink in colour, offer an elegant nose of red forest berries, wild strawberry and cherry, with a fruity, complex, juicy and fresh palate. Reds display a deep, vivid ruby colour with garnet highlights; their nose of red and black fruit — cherry, morello, blackberry, plum — mingles with discreet notes of red pepper, spice and chocolate. The palate is dense, with balanced tannins, a mature roundness and an elegant, fruity finish. Rich in alcohol and extract, these wines can sustain extended bottle ageing. Whites and rosés pair readily with fish and white meats, while the more structured reds suit red meat, game and mature cheese.
